What to do before your UPLIFTED interview
You’ve received an invitation to interview. What happens next?
The first, and most crucial thing to do upon receiving an invitation to interview is to book your interview slot. We recommend you do this as soon as possible.
You can do this by simply replying to your interview invitation email. Please do not change the subject line.
Completing mandatory tasks
Candidates that miss the interview booking deadline may forfeit their chance to undertake the interview.
Next, you will need to send us the following documents:
1. Clear scan of your Identity Documents
This will be used to verify your identity. We will also confirm that you hold valid citizenship for your country of application. Visit our eligibility criteria page to learn more about acceptable documents.
2. Death certificate of the deceased parent(s), if applicable
This will confirm your status as an orphan. Underprivileged orphans will be prioritised for all UPLIFTED scholarships and grants.
3. Household bank statement for the last 12 months
This will be used to verify your household income to ascertain you’re from an underprivileged background
4. O’level results, JAMB result, University admission offer letter or CGPA result (if applicable)
This will help us ensure that UPLIFTED scholarships are dedicated to high performing candidates who need it most.
5. Parental consent to proceed with the scholarship application (applicants under 18 year only)
This should be signed by someone with parental authority. The signature gives us explicit consent to collect, process, and store your information. Parental consent is required for access rights to the applicant’s academic records and personal information. Consent provided includes charitable purposes, media, and social testimonials.
6. Two reference letters
All applicants are required to provide two reference letters. For applicants who are under 18 years old, one reference must be from the last secondary school principal.
If you do not provide copies of all the above documentation by the end of the UPLIFTED interview period, you may not be considered for an award. This applies regardless of performance at the interview.
Location of your interview
Your interview will take place virtually and arrangements for your interview will be confirmed when you book your interview slot.
You can contact us if you require any adjustments and/or have questions about your interview. You can do this by replying to the interview invitation email we send you. Please do not change the subject line.
If you fail to provide copies of all the above documentation by the end of the interview period, you may not be considered for a scholarship or grant award, regardless of performance at interview.
What to expect during your UPLIFTED interview
Your interview will be a competency-based panel assessment conducted in English. The panel will include representatives from the partner organisations who will evaluate your answers based on UPLIFTED eligibility criteria.
You will discuss the information you provided in your application, including your personal and professional aspirations, and how UPLIFTED can help you achieve your goals. The panel will also ask about your course choices and the status of your university applications.
Well done for coming this far!
What to expect after your UPLIFTED interview
Progressing your university offers
It is your responsibility to apply for the university placements as this is outside your UPLIFTED application process. UPLIFTED cannot influence the choice of institutions or courses of candidates.
After your interview
We will communicate outcomes to all candidates.
When will I know the outcome of my interview?
Candidates applying for an UPLIFTED scholarship will receive email notifications about their interview outcomes. These notifications will be sent from May 2025. Please note that candidates may be notified on different dates. This is perfectly normal as we manage the process across the network of scholars in participating countries and territories.
Please do not contact us regarding the status of your application. Outcomes will be communicated to all applicants by the the end of July 2025.
Unsuccessful candidates
Unfortunately, the UPLIFTED scholarship fund is limited and only the top applicants can be selected for an award.
If you are unsuccessful this year, we understand that this will be disappointing news. To have reached interview stage is a huge achievement, and we encourage you to read our application guidance and apply again in future.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to provide feedback on applications or interviews.
